About us

Started by people who have laid courts.

Sport Surface King grew out of years spent on job sites: installing surfaces from the ground up, patching cracks, painting lines, and learning best practices to deliver to customers their dream surface.

We kept seeing the same two problems. Contractors rarely had the time to walk customers through every surface option. And owners were left unsure what their site needed, or what it would take to get the court they had in mind. So we set up a service that sits between the two and makes the job clear and streamlined for both sides.

How we work

Three rules we don't bend.

Rule one

Scope comes first

No contractor sees your project until we agree on what the job is. That way everyone starts from the same plan.

Rule two

Local crews only

Freeze-thaw in Winnipeg is not the same as rain in Vancouver. We match you with people who build in your climate.

Rule three

We stay honest

If resurfacing won't fix your court, we'll say so. If you don't need a rebuild, we'll say that too.

How we vet contractors

What a crew has to show us before we send them your file.

Current liability insurance and provincial workers' compensation coverage

References from recent jobs, which we call

Finished courts we have seen in person or through detailed site photos

Experience with the surface system they want to install

Warranty terms written down, not promised on the phone

Our vetting doesn't stop at approval. After every project, we check in with the owner on their satisfaction and update our vetted contractor directory with their feedback.
